Florence House

This newly built home is a calming and contemporary beach retreat without cliches, but with a modern laid back beach vibe. Addressing the kitchen, dining, living, laundry and bathrooms, a selection of colour and materials create a harmonious ambience with connection to each other and the local surrounds of the home.

A modern kitchen renovation featuring timber round dining table, large pendant lampshade, and neutral tones.

The kitchen layout and design was greatly informed by the clients existing double door fridge and their recent purchase of induction hotplates with a built in extractor.  Without the need of a range hood, open shelving was created to add a light weight and bespoke touch.  A narrow entrance to the butlers pantry opens up to an ample well shelved space that is proportionate to the modest size of the kitchen.  A bulk head above the joinery was opted to create a seamless interface that streamlines through to the front entrance, allowing for ceiling height variation that opens to a superbly lit northern aspect of the kitchen, dining and living areas. Custom timber tri-pull hardware was designed for cabinetry pulls to reflect the timber flooring and add warmth to the green of the Politec Oasis. Handmade Morroccan Zellige tiles add texture and character to the splashback, whilst harmonising perfectly with the overall fresh palette.

Rebekah took the time to understand our personal tastes and was able to translate them into a beautiful and functional design that perfectly reflects our style. She was able to work within our budget and still deliver exceptional results without compromising on the overall design. Her professionalism and attention to detail were evident in everything she did. It was clear that she cared about making our home look and feel the best it could be, which made the whole experience of building our new house genuinely enjoyable. The end result is nothing short of breathtaking. Rebekah’s work has transformed our home into a beautiful, comfortable, and stylish space.

The laundry continues with the Politec Oasis joinery, open timber shelving and bespoke timber cabinetry hardware, but with the variation of a deep green tiled splash back. Bathrooms are minimal and clean with a touch of the palettes green seen in the fluted glass of the shower screen. Bespoke touches of the hand made custom ceramic pendant light and timber cabinetry hardware add warmth and character to the minimalist spaces.

Lighting was kept to a minimum to avoid ceiling clutter and to make the most of the abundant natural lighting. Custom timber task lighting was made as a linea pendant for the kitchen island bench. A dimmable handcrafted linen pendant zones the dining space and adds a touch of nostalgia and ambience.
